Cookie policy

The short version

We only set analytics cookies if you accept them. If you decline, the site works exactly the same and we still count your visit, without storing anything on your device. A few small things the site needs to work are listed at the end.

You can change your mind at any time: Cookie settings, also at the foot of every page.

Analytics cookies and recordings, only if you accept

We use PostHog, hosted in the EU, to see which pages help people, how long visits last, whether people come back, and how many go on to send us a message or sign up. If you accept, PostHog sets two cookies whose names start with ph_and our project code: one holds a random ID, the other notes how that ID is kept. It keeps a copy of the ID in your browser’s storage. They last up to a year.

If you accept, PostHog also makes a recording of how you move through the site (pages, scrolling and clicks) and a map of where people click, so we can see where pages confuse people. Anything you type into a form is hidden in the recording, as is your email address wherever the site shows it back to you, and our unsubscribe page is never recorded. Recordings are kept for up to 30 days.

We do not use any of this for advertising, we do not share it, and we never send PostHog your name, email address or anything you type into a form. We see how the site is used, not who you are.

If you decline

PostHog still counts the visit, using a code worked out on its servers from your connection and browser. Nothing is stored on your device or read from it, and the code cannot recognise you on another day.

We also use Vercel Web Analytics, run by our hosting provider, to count page views. It is cookieless in the same way: it records the page, the site you came from, your approximate location and your type of device, and stores nothing on your device.

Our understanding is that neither needs consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, because those rules govern storing information on your device or reading it, and these do neither. That reading is pending legal review.

What the site needs to work

These do not need consent, because the site cannot do what you asked without them:

• Your cookie choice, kept in your browser’s storage so we do not ask again on every page.
• mi_pricing, a cookie set only when you ask for our pricing document. It lets your browser open the document and expires after 24 hours.
• A note that you have seen the opening animation, so it does not replay on every page. It is cleared when you close the tab.
